The median content team has a production bias. Shipping feels productive, so distribution gets treated like a nice-to-have. That is usually the opposite of what the economics demand.
A better model is to design a promotion system before you publish. Decide which communities, partners, list segments, and repackaging formats the piece will move through. Then write with those paths in mind.
Good distribution is less about volume than repetition. The same idea can become a newsletter hook, short-form social proof, a partner mention, a founder note, and a sales enablement asset.
